«La ballena de Jonás» es una asociación pequeña compuesta por trabajadores del ámbito de la intervención social que no recibe subvención alguna. En este momento se encuentran embarcados en un proyecto.
Su objetivo principal es la búsqueda de la transformación social desde la educación no formal teniendo como premisas la profesionalidad en los proyectos y la calidad en la atención de las personas.
Nos ha llamado poderosamente la atención que para ello, utilizan, entre otras herramientas, el teatro y el fomento de la lectura y que, según ellos mismos dicen (aunque la frase no es suya, sino de Francis de Croisset), «La lectura es el viaje de los que no pueden tomar el tren«. Curioso.
La filosofía de «La ballena de Jonás» podría resumirse así:
- La Asociación cultural la ballena de Jonás es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro que tiene como principal objetivo la búsqueda de la transformación social desde la educación no formal, teniendo como premisas la profesionalidad en los proyectos y la calidad en la atención de las persona.
- La Ballena de Jonás es una Asociación independiente que se fundamenta en los principios de solidaridad, igualdad y cooperación, sin hacer distinción por motivos de raza, sexo, religión, nacionalidad, condición social o cualquier otra circunstancia de índole personal o social que no vulnere el buen funcionamiento colectivo, siendo sensible a los problemas y necesidades de nuestra sociedad.
- La asociación se considera independiente de toda orientación política y/o religiosa.
- Asimismo trabajaremos con profesionales y trataremos de hacernos a nosotros mismos profesionales.
- La asociación está de acuerdo con la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos, los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio y la Declaración de los Derechos del Niño.
- Todas las acciones serán llevadas a cabo desde un punto de vista creativo, buscando en todo momento la innovación y la originalidad tanto en el diseño como en el desarrollo de las actividades.
En este momento, «La ballena de Jonás» se encuentra inmersa en la elaboración de un proyecto de cooperación internacional con latinoamérica.
