Entrevista a Pedro Sánchez
Ahora hay que matizarlo. Pero en 1992 Pedro Sánchez era subdirector de extensión universitaria en la ETSI de Telecomunicación y el matiz era innecesario porque el actual presidente del gobierno seguramente estaría en el instituto. La cuestión es que nuestro Pedro fue el enlace con la escuela y gran ayuda e impulsor del grupo de teatro. En la «revista» (ya descubriréis el por qué de las comillas) del X (10) aniversario fue entrevistado. Como siempre es bueno saber de dónde venimos para saber a dónde vamos, os reproducimos la entrevista íntegra:

En un despacho, de otros tantos que tiene la Escuela, me encuentro con Pedro Sánchez, un hombre de ciencia dispuesto a charlar y a comunicarse. Y, sin que casi tenga que preguntarle, me resume su experiencia a lo largo de estos diez años de teatro.
P – Ya que formaste parte del grupo desde sus comienzos…¿Cómo fue el inicio del grupo?
R – Hace 10 años yo estaba en la subdirección de extensión universitaria, (levantando la cabeza en un gesto como para recordar). Intenté potenciar diferentes grupos de todo tipo y actividades extraacadémicas de la escuela, como el de cámara, que sigue ahora también. Saque en el boletín informativo de delegación de alumnos un anuncio diciendo: todo aquel que este interesado en el teatro, a tal día y a tal hora. Para mi sorpresa, apareció mucha gente, al contrario de lo que yo pensaba que iba a ocurrir. La verdad es que aquella gente era increíble, con una ilusión increíble, dispuestos a todo. Era un grupo buenísimo, porque los comienzos fueron durísimos. La gente de fuera era muy escéptica con respecto a nosotros, porque por ejemplo ni siquiera disponíamos de un escenario.
El salón de actos de la escuela era demasiado pequeño, y con la ayuda de José Mellado, al que me gustaría dar las gracias, tuvimos que quitar un par de filas de butacas para disponer de más espacio, solucionar el tema cortinas, luces, aire acondicionado. El salón de actos se ha ido diseñando paso a paso en función de las necesidades del grupo de teatro, lo cual tiene narices… Desde el primer momento tuvimos un éxito terrible, lo cual hizo que nos fuéramos proponiendo metas más difíciles. A mí, había una cosa que me abrumaba, y era que siempre intentaban llevar a cabo proyectos más complicados, como dramones americanos… Podemos perfectamente! decían ellos, y la verdad es que después salían cosas muy buenas.
Yo, desde un principio, me negaba a que cobrasen por las obras, aunque fuese simbólico. Pero el gasto era grande, y ellos, visto el éxito que tenían, querían cada vez montajes más complicados. El tema sonido fue decisivo para la política económica del grupo.
P – ¿Qué es lo más importante que te ha enseñado el grupo?
R – Que cuando la gente tiene ilusión, todo se resuelve, como al principio, con todos los problemas que había que solucionar. La gente me decía que yo apoyaba más al grupo de teatro, pero eso no era verdad, lo que pasa es que era justo esa iniciativa y esa ilusión que le ponían a las cosas que hacía que prefiriese apoyar sus proyectos. El dinero va en función de las actividades y el trabajo puesto en ello. Siempre a sido así.
P – ¿ Personaje de teatro que te gustaría interpretar, obra que dirigir…?
R – Yo no, me siento verdaderamente incapaz, me da mucha envidia no ser capaz ni de tocar un instrumento ni de interpretar. Tengo muy claras mis limitaciones. Admiro mucho a la gente que sí es capaz. La única profesión que realmente envidio es la de director de orquesta. Eso sí debe ser maravilloso.
P – Cuéntanos una anécdota divertida.
R – (Se ríe al recordarlo…)..Como José Mellado, también hubo más gente que me apoyó y ayudó, entre ellos Vicente Ortega y el vicerrector de extensión universitaria de por aquel entonces, ahora no recuerdo su nombre. Fue él que creó el certamen de teatro de la Politécnica. Él venía aquí, veía el grupo, y subvencionaba algunos proyectos gracias al rectorado. En una de esas ocasiones en que venia de visita, yo, que le recibía y le ponía en el mejor lugar de todos, le llevé a ver una obra de por aquel entonces, en la que aparecía un coro griego, con túnicas y eso. Recuerdo perfectamente que estaba yo sentado a su lado, cuando de repente, se pone muy muy tieso, al ver el coro ese aparecer….”ese que está ahí es mi hijo” me dice seriamente. ¿Tú no sabías nada? Le pregunto yo. “La primera noticia que tengo de que mi hijo se dedica a el teatro”. La verdad es que era un alumno brillante, y todavía no sé que le molestó más, que ni siquiera le hubiese avisado como padre para que le fuera a ver, o que perdiese el tiempo de esa forma… Pero la vida te da tiempo para todo, y el teatro le iba a enriquecer.
P – ¿Cuál ha sido el peor momento?
R – Tengo que hacer memoria, si realmente hubo alguno se me ha olvidado completamente, me acuerdo de muchos buenos… La gente me pregunta porque no vuelvo, pero yo creo que es una etapa de mi vida que ya cerré en belleza, que recuerdo con mucho cariño, pero fue lo que fue, y hay etapas que segundas partes no son buenas… Tengo el carnet cero, es algo que me hace mucha ilusión y que guardo con cariño. El peor momento, ahora que pienso, fue quizás cuando te esperabas un premio y luego no te lo dieron. Veías una obra y estabas convencido de que arrasaría en la politécnica, y que luego a lo mejor se llevaba un premio solamente, y no el de mejor obra en conjunto,… te decepcionas y te cabreas, verdaderamente.
